Ryan is a head financial consultant at Three Kings Wealth Management. He helps his clients get ahead on their financial life with expert advice, financial services and consultations.

Ryan served on the Australian Army as a Infantry Corporal and left in 2015 to start his journey in finance. He started working in new insurance and moved into a corporate environment for a short while. Then 12 months later, he founded and started Three Kings Wealth Management. He had all these amazing ideas he wanted to share with the world but he wasn’t executing them. He was struggling to execute his ideas even if he knew how to do so in his head. He’d spent $60,000 in the business but struggled to turn $1 revenue. He knew needed help and met Aureus Financial along the way to look for a solution.

 “I had a hard time completing and executing my ideas. I had all the ideas and had no issue getting new clients, when I got to the point where I just couldn’t get through the money making stage. I knew what had to be done but I just didn’t have the things in place to do this and you have the right people to help me build the foundations.”

And I was one of the lucky or lucky slash smart, I put two years worth of income or expenses away before I started the business. So the pricing was an impression which we talked about when we started. So I never really worried about it so it doesn’t matter. I can take two years to do this, and I’ll be fine. But then when I turned over into the new licensee, and I had to revamp the website, revamp my process and system and spend another 1000s of laws, I just started getting the shit with spending more money, even though it didn’t have to. When I first I just yeah, I knew I could.

Linda is passionate about helping those in need when it comes to their finances. So, when she had the opportunity to do so, she was eager to help them but the reality is, we can’t help everyone.

“So the pain points were definitely probably getting leads,  finding the right clients and figuring out what to do with them. And also,  learning within myself what I should and shouldn’t be doing and what I shouldn’t be looking for and shouldn’t be looking for with clients. I was too eager to try and help anyone and everyone. And yeah, sort of realizing that I can’t help everyone and try to work on that.”

When we start our self-employed journey, we just want to be able to cast the net far and wide but sometimes, it’s not the best way to go. Linda had challenges around her positioning, and with her marketing, the two of the main things she worked on in the Wealth Accelerator Program.

POSITIONING AND MARKETING

Positioning your business in the marketplace and finding out who’s your client avatar is one of the foundations of running a business. There are a lot of established businesses out there that want to push forwards but can’t because they didn’t take the time to set the foundations. Sometimes we need to take a step backwards to make steps forward.

“I think targeting or you’re doing the exercise to figure out my niche client, and my ideal client has been really valuable. […] Now, I know who it is that I want to target. And also then, again, coming down to not just working with anyone and everyone being able to say no, confidently, but in the right way and just say you know that you’re not really you know, we’re not the right fit for each other, you know, I can refer you to someone else, or whatever. And yeah, just sort of, yeah, I think just basically working on myself and figuring out who I want to work with, and then being able to build it from there.”

It’s not just about your getting those leads in, it’s about refining what you’re doing. And working on the business as a whole, I think that’s been the most valuable. It was all different business owners in the group as well, it wasn’t all mortgage brokers, all finance industries, but the same principles could be applied to anyone, in any industry, which is really, really locked. Obviously, just little tweaks, here and there but I think it just makes you look at the bigger picture, and makes you think about it. And I think specifically niching and finding your niche, and targeting that I think is really important especially as brokers.”
